Bilingual Dictionary is Available in Writing, Mathematics and Science

A locally approved bilingual/dual language word-to-word dictionary may be provided. The bilingual word-to-word dictionary must be in a paper format (non-electronic), provide the English word and the target word or words in the native language, and must not provide any definitions, pictures or examples.  

For students whose primary language is not English and who use dual language supports in the classroom, use of a bilingual/dual language word-to-word dictionary may be appropriate. Reference materials are appropriate for students who have had prior experience using them and are able to effectively access the information. This may be appropriate for students who don’t need a fully translated test but may need to reference a few words. The use of this feature may result in the student needing additional overall time to complete the assessment. (Page 16)
