Velázquez Academic Vocabulary Essentials Sets
Velázquez Academic Vocabulary (VAV) was developed in response to the new standards which demand a more rigorous academic language use in the classroom. VAV is needed because traditional academic vocabulary (AWL) is not sufficient to meet language requirements in content classrooms and in assessments.
- Help ELLs acquire the most frequent content-based academic vocabulary and improve engagement in the classroom
- Provide primary language support in content areas
- 3,000 high frequency cross curriculum academic vocabulary selected from K-12 textbooks and state tests
- Divided by subject (ELA, Math and Science) and grade level (3-5, 6-8 and 9-12)
