Dr. David González Nieto is an expert in bilingual education, language policy, and educational equity. He is currently an Associate Professor in Bilingual Education at Northern Illinois University. Before joining NIU, he served as the Executive Director of the BUENO Center for Multicultural Education at the University of Colorado Boulder.

He has also worked at the state level as the Division Administrator for English Language Learning at the Illinois State Board of Education, where he oversaw bilingual, migrant, and English language acquisition programs statewide.

Dr. Nieto is one of the co‑editors of the book ¡Qué BUENO!: A History of Advocacy and Care for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education.
