Translanguaging at the Intersections: Teaching Practice, Power, and Possibility
What becomes possible when students no longer have to leave their languages at the classroom door?
The 2027 Translanguaging Classroom Institute invites researchers, educators, and educational leaders to explore how translanguaging can transform teaching and learning across ESL/ESOL, bilingual, and dual language classrooms.
This year's theme, Translanguaging at the Intersections: Teaching Practice, Power, and Possibility, examines how research, classroom practice, and language ideologies intersect to shape multilingual students' educational experiences. Through engaging discussions, research-informed strategies, and practical classroom applications, participants will explore ways to leverage students' full linguistic repertoires to deepen learning, expand access to academic content, and strengthen language and literacy development.

Literacies: developing visual, textual, oral, and embodied modes of meaning-making
Learning: understanding the role of deepening language and literacy across grades and content areas to create dynamic learning spaces
Living: affirming students' lived experiences, identities, funds of knowledge, ways of knowing and communicating across contexts
