How to Use the FARO Classroom Library Supplement Sets

To help schools and families get the most out of their FARO Classroom Library Supplement Sets, we’ve designed a Reading Challenge that makes literacy fun, interactive, and community-centered.

How it works:

  1. Student Participation – Each student takes turns bringing home a book from the FARO set to read independently or with the support of a parent, guardian, or older sibling.
  2. Family Engagement – Families are encouraged to read together, discuss the story, and make connections to their own experiences and culture.
  3. Tracking Progress – Students keep a simple reading log, bookmark, or passport-style tracker that records the titles they’ve read.
  4. Setting Goals – Teachers set individual or class-wide goals (e.g., number of books read, minutes of reading, or participation from every family).
  5. Celebrating Success – At the end of the challenge, students who meet their goals receive recognition. Schools may choose to offer awards, certificates, or a celebration event to honor their readers.

Benefits:

  • Strengthens home-school connections by involving families in shared reading.
  • Encourages consistent reading habits that build comprehension and fluency.
  • Promotes a sense of community and accomplishment in the classroom.
  • Provides a structured yet flexible way for teachers to integrate the FARO sets into everyday learning.
